Argentina: Hope in Hard Times (2005) is Seattle filmmakers Mark Dworkin and Melissa Young’s documentary of the creative and inspiring grassroots effort to rebuild communities in the aftermath of Argentina’s 2001 economic collapse. Join in the processions and protests, attend street-corner neighborhood assemblies, visit workers’ cooperatives and urban gardens, and take a close-up look at Argentines who are picking up the pieces of their devastated economy and creating new possibilities for the future.
Filmmakers Mark Dworkin and Melissa Young will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A. Prior to the feature, we will be screening Dworkin and Young’s raw footage of the WTO protests, the 10th anniversary of which is the occasion for this event.
